This guide concentrates on all those prehistoric animals that were not dinosaurs from Archaeopteryx to Hairy Mammoths. It starts with an introductory section outlining, as far as we understand, when and how they lived and why they became extinct. The book then includes 60 double-page spreads looking at different creature. For each creature there is: a full-colour drawing which also shows the size when compared with an everyday object; a fact-box of key information - name, pronunciation, meaning, location, size, when it existed, and so on; a description of the most significant features and habits.
