The Tatshenshini, North America's last great wilderness river, is threatened by the proposed development of Windy Craggy, this continent's largest open-pit copper mine. The battle to save the river is being waged by Tatshenshini International, an umbrella orga-nization representing over 50 international environmental groups, including the Sierra Club, Audubon, and the World Wildlife Fund.This outstanding photographic essay, commissioned by Tatshenshini International, celebrates a marvellous piece of wilderness heritage. Tatshenhini River Wild features over 100 images by distinguished outdoor photographers, including Robert Ketchum, Art Wolfe, Pat O'Hara, Kevin Shafer, Bob Herger, and Pat Morrow. Rounding out the collection are insightful writings by noted environmentalists and authors, including Ed and Peggy Wayburn, David Brower, Al Gore, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, and Monte Hummel. They touch on the landscape, flora and fauna, and the dynamic ecosystem that make this region so vital. All the contributors have donated their work. This large-format publication will aid in the preser-vation of the Tatshenshini River and a portion of the proceeds will directly benefit the work of Tatshenshini International.
