By 1300 AD, the Sky Hand people had crushed and enslaved the Albaamaha people and built their high-walled capital, Split Sky City, to dominate towns up and down the Black Warrior River. But a violent wind is brewing that may topple the city's mighty walls.

Review: People of The Thunder by W. Michael Gear 4* 06/10/2023

I've always enjoyed the Gear's North America's creative style of writing. I like the information and the description of Native Americans' lives and beliefs that flow throughout their books. They also gathered some data on the archaeology and cultures of these people through sites out of the Mississippi Valley and other regions.
The scene is set around 1300 A.D. I liked their characters and the story plot. The rivalry between neighboring tribes held both scenes of violence and deception. Their historical fiction was great and interesting. Old White and Trader continue their adventures as they approach Split City and their other destinations. ( )

People of the Thunder, the sequel to The People of the Weeping Eye, was as usual for the Gear's, an interesting, and informative story. The Gear's weave their knowledge of archeology, prehistoric Native Americans, and myth, into a provoking story that you don't want to put down. There are so many interesting characters that you follow throughout the story, as well as a sense of mystery to the plot. I would definitely recommend this book, but you really need to read The People of the Weeping Eye first. ( )

Slow for a Gear, but the story continues to build..to an unexpected twist at the end.
Old White, Trader and the Contrary continue their adventures as they approach Split Sky City and their destinies. ( )

The Contrary - the woman once known as Two Petals - walked through the quiet night. Her moccasin-clad feet scuffed the Plaza's trampled surface, the sound lf leather on clay like the whisper of distant ghosts. Her straight body moved purposefully...
