From childhood John and Patricia had a special bond or love for one another, even though they barely spoke to each other. Patricia is from a rich family whose Mother is very domineering. John is from a kind Christian family, though they are not rich in material things. She has had just enough contact with John and his family to get her started on the road to discovering the Bible and its precious promises on her own. But battling her Mother and the rich spoiled Thornton, who her Mother wants her to marry, will take up most of this story.

I liked how the author started off in a scene taking place in the present, and then quickly spent most of the book showing how these people came to the place the book started at. Then at the end, you are taken back to the present and find a really good ending to the dilemma in Patricia's life. A very satisfying ending. ( )
