The memoir of a woman's childhood spent among fundamentalist Pentecostals in a Texas coastal town. Constantly amusing and engaging. ( ) This book reads like a cross between a Mark Childress and a James Lee Burke novels. Which I thought was made all the more interesting by the fact that it is a memoir and not a fictional story. Religious fervor, hard scrabble living and a touch of murder tossed in for good measure make this book a fascinating read but what I most took away after finishing it was that perhaps it is the imperfections in life, and how we choose to deal with those unfair imablances we encounter while living it, that make us more well rounded people in the end. A great book, sticks to your bones like a country church supper, highly recomended. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
