From the author of Labor of Love and The Boyfriend Project comes another beach-perfect novel of fun, friendship, and the boys of summer, great for fans of Stephanie Perkins, Lauren Barnholdt and Susane Colasanti. Dani's a tomboy, totally useless when it comes to romance. But this summer she and her best friend have a foolproof plan to change all that. Both of their families will be hosting summer league baseball players--a whole league of potential boyfriends!… (altro)

This author is a bit streaky in her quality but this one was by far my favorite of her books. I loved the characters and the story line. It reminded my so much of the summer baseball league on Cape Cod. ( )

I love these kinds of books. Fun, fast paced and easy to read with great characters, comedy a little romance and maybe even a lesson learned. ( )

Do you remember those all-consuming feelings you had growing up, specifically in high school? When every guy or girl that you dated or had a crush on was probably the one? And one of THE most important things was to have a boyfriend or girlfriend? I’ll admit that I remember feeling that way sometimes, but never really gave into the feelings. I always told myself that the odds of meeting the one while I was in high school were pretty darn slim. I still think I was right.

Rachel Hawthorne perfectly captures those feelings in The Boyfriend League. I felt like I was reliving some of my high school moments (it wasn’t that long ago; I’m only in my 20s), except it turned out much better and definitely less awkward in The Boyfriend League.

The main character, Dani, was refreshing. She was really into baseball (which isn’t my favorite, but beggars can’t be choosers) and that’s a big deal to have a female character be really into sports. She was sarcastic and witty. I found myself full-on laughing during some of her exchanges. The male lead, Jason, was adorable and I want one. The chemistry between Dani and Jason was so sweet.

I will admit the initial premise of The Boyfriend League is kind of ridiculous. It was a bit reminiscent of Summer Catch (with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jessica Biel). The whole idea of offering your house to a baseball player for the summer seems kind of weird to me, but like I said I’m not into baseball. So maybe that’s pretty normal at the college level.

The Boyfriend League was a quick read. If you’re looking for a clean, sweet young adult book look no further. The Boyfriend League is for you. If you’re already a Rachel Hawthorne fan and you haven’t read The Boyfriend League yet, what are you waiting for? Ultimately I would recommend it, unless you absolutely hate chick lit.

Okay, this isn't the kind of book that I usually admit to reading, and then to liking as much as I did... but I was surprised! The writing was much better than most books of these types - rather decent. And the story was great. As my sister said, not only is it about girls who love baseball and convince their families to host a player so they can get to know the team, but the main character hates pineapple pizza. I mean, this book is great. ( )

3.5 starsA nice read.I can't really say its the best, but it wasn't that bad.At first, the idea of just doing this and that for boys made me think that the book would be really shallow and would just be about Dani trying to make a fool out of herself looking for a boyfriend, but its not really. I hanged on, reading and wanting to know what would happen between her and Jason.I really want to shake her to death because she's really thinking about Mac. And I somehow feel bad for Bird because she can't really see beyond Brandon's hottie face when he really is a good for nothing dude. They don't even end up together, in the end he was just the "summer boyfriend". But they love each other, so I'm moving on.I felt so sad for Jason, and it really got me when Bird described the way he looks at Dani like "she's something he cannot have". But when it worked out and he moved out for the sake of his sanity because he couldn't possibly keep his hands off Dani, I thought "now that's a great guy there!".I felt like it kind of dragged out in the end, but I'm glad it ended the way it did.
