The wind blows an apple off a tree, a worm eats a tiny hole in it, a bird pecks at it, and a boy eats it, spitting out the seeds--from which an apple tree grows. This book ends in very much the same way it begins, with a tree full of big red apples. However, there are a lot of steps along the way and a few small things happen that together have a big impact. An apples tree full of fruit provides food for insects, animals, and humans.
