A popular author of her day, she wrote over 100 novels and numerous short stories of religious and Christian fiction. Her characters were most often young female ingénues, frequently strong Christian women or those who become so within the confines of the story.
Amory is working as a social secretary for a well-to-do family. While trying to keep her employer's preacher nephew from having his heart broken by houseguests, she has plenty of time to worry about the ill aunts she has left behind to earn money for and the dashing pilot for whose soul and safety she is praying.
When Amory meets Gareth, a dashing pilot, they fall instantly in love. Their future holds wonderful promise—until his plane is reported missing.
Grace Livingston Hill is the beloved author of more than 100 books. Read and enjoyed by millions, her wholesome stories contain adventure, romance, and the heartwarming triumphs of people faced with the problems of life and love.

I am a big fan of Grace Livingston Hill. I appreciate her life story and also the fact that for her, “the most important things she did was not write books but share the message of salvation, a message she felt God wanted her to share through the abilities He had given her”. She does a great job of sharing that message in this story.
Amory Lorrimer is a young lady who is working for the wealthy Whitney family as Mrs. Whitney’s personal secretary. She has a deep and abiding love for her Lord and feels very “out of place” living in the home she is in. She will have a chance encounter with Gareth Whitney, a flier, right before he takes off for a dangerous flight. This encounter will change both Amory and Gareth from that moment on.
Then there is the story of Diana, the life of any party, and good friends with the Whitneys. When her and her friends discover that cousin John Dunleith is coming to stay at the Whitneys they are dismayed. John has went to school and is now a preacher and the party folks think he will be a “damper” on their party. So Diana makes it her goal to beguile the man with her charms, have him fall in love with her and then drop him, just to give her something to do. The Lord though works in mysteries ways and I enjoyed how He began to work on Diana.
This was a good story of how the Lord can change hearts and work all situations out for His good. In this case He will work out a situation that will save a young man’s life. ( )
