This was a book I read in high school (about 15 years ago) that really stuck with me, story-wise. I searched forever to find it again, and did still enjoy it.

Of course, now that I'm older, I see that some of the lines were really cheesy, haha, but I was also impressed with how the author kept the story fairly fast-paced, without it feeling rushed.

I remembered the story as one book, but apparently it's a series, and I must have read the whole thing, because some of what I remember wasn't in this one. The ending here is rather abrupt, yet it doesn't quite feel like a cliffhanger, either... it's more like the book is left unfinished at some random part.

Now to track down the rest of the series...
