I got this book as a little, cute Christmas gift, and it's basically perfect for that. Cami Johnson's adorable portrait photography of dogs is set against little pages of text for most of the "culprits" - be they the dog who is the "Biggest Chicken," the "Worst Patient," the "Tiniest Hunter" or the "Quickest Tail on the Trail." Each dog gets only three or four paragraphs at (some do not have text at all). Most of this text is sweet and funny and perfect for reading aloud; occasionally it veers into the overly-cutesy. It's certainly not very long and reading the entire volume cover to cover wouldn't even take an hour. Regardless, it's a fun coffee table book for dog lovers - excellent to leave out in the living room for guests to find and raise a smile over. This is a nice alternative to more saccharine, cloying images or merchandise depicting dogs as "little angels"; Johnson's book, at least, respects the inherent mischievous nature of man's best friend. From the carnivorous German Shepherd happily lounging on a velvet-tufted cushion, to a rabbit-hunting dachshund, these quirky, painterly portraits of dogs capture the mischievous nature of our favourite companion. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
