40. In my opinion, this is a good book to inform non-Latina about quienceaneras. I liked this book because the author’s writing is engaging and organized. On the first page of the book, the author immediately asks the reader, “What is a quinceanera?” and then defines a quinceanera clearly and in a way that makes the reader interested. The author even describes a quinceanera by stating that hundreds attend a big “fiesta,” and the word fiesta is slanted with its pronunciation, “fee-ES-ta” in parenthesis beside the word. The author did a great job with explaining this Latina tradition to people who may be completely unfamiliar with the concept. Also, I liked this book because the author made the point of view in third person. The author described the photos on each page by explaining what each person in the photo is doing and why, which I feel makes the book easier to read and understand. The big idea of this book is to inform readers about quinceanera celebrations. ( )

This book is about a girl named Cynthia. Cynthia is about to have a Quinceanera, which is a celebration of your fifteenth birthday in the latino culture. Not only does the family get involved in helping prepare but the whole community. This would be a good guide to help a girl in high school prepare for her day, since it goes over all the things that need to be done before the big day.
