Here is another wonderful bible story book illustrated with photos of scenes assembled from Legos. Its 165 pages are divided into ten chapters. The text covers one or two bible verses on each page, and chapter and verse are included so kids can look up the actual verses in their home bibles. A Lego scene illustrates each page. The book chronicles Moses’ life from his birth through his time in Egypt, the ten plagues, the flight from Egypt, parting of the Red Sea, God’s giving of the Ten Commandments, the creation of the golden calf idol, and finally, the ark of the covenant.
Kids will enjoy the inventive way in which the author uses Legos to bring these stories to life. Encourage them to use their own Legos to make some bible scenes. Join them in doing this for some fun family time. Yarn, fabric scraps or items from other toy sets can make additional props. You could even try taking some photos of scenes, and illustrate your own bible story book. While younger kids than ages 8-11 love Legos too, I recommend that you not share this book with them too early. They will be confused by the text, and may find the bible violence upsetting – the ten plagues, or the drowning of the Egyptian armies in the Red Sea. Parents, if in doubt, sample this book first before you sign it out. We have hundreds of wonderfully illustrated, age-appropriate books you can share with your younger children about the bible, its people and their activities.
