The biography of William Saroyan, a literate and revealing picture of one of my favorite flawed writers. Saroyan the man was passionate, generous, self-absorbed ("I love mankind - it's People I can't stand" truly applied to him), vain and immensely talented. Saroyan the writer was at his best as moving and inspirational as anyone I've ever read, and at his worst, he could be cruel and self-pitying. A nice treatment of a complex man. (
