This is a great read for someone who has just taken their first women's studies course or your little cousin who is just starting to think about feminism. If you have any kind of background knowledge, this may be something that is too elementary. ( )

The short essay style of the book really makes for super quick reading, and I can imagine it’d be good if you wanted to pick something up and just read 1 or 2 “chapters” at a time.

As expected, it was all very basic feminist principles. I did not learn any new theory, but I did enjoy some related anecdotes that Valenti provided to illustrate her points. I think this book would be an okay introduction to feminist ideas for someone, however because each double standard is so short, it really leaves out a lot of important theory and intersection. ( )
