The book follows the story of a cat named Otto, who one day is granted wishes from a genie. He decides to make the entire world the color orange, and absolutely loves it first but then begins to realize the problems an orange world may cause. From the orange food to the dangers of an orange stoplight, he decides to change the world to blue, but then decides this is not right either, and he changes everything back to the color it was before. This book could be helpful for developing readers and is helpful in the message it contains, about being content with what you have. I would have this book in my classroom library, along with the many others within its series in order to encourage students to begin reading chapter books. This graphic novel is suitable for ages six to nine. It is about Otto the Cat who gets one wish from a genie. He wishes that everything would become orange, but soon realizes that this wishes brings chaos to the world. This novel essentially displays how important it is to consider others when making decisions. Only thinking about yourself will lead to hurting those around you. I would use this novel in my class for my graphic novel collection. This genre is important to include in the class library for students who have trouble engaging with typical texts. This graphic novel is a cute story about a cat named Otto who finds a magic lamp and wishes for everything to be orange. He soon realizes that he made a mistake and that he wishes he could change his wish back. This story's lesson is about not taking things for granted and for appreciating the things we have in our lives. I would use this to show and introduce that important life lessons without turning negative. The words are easy and the graphics and illustrations are fun. For beginning readers. Otto wishes from a genie that everything can be orange. He realizes that it is not good to have everything be orange and to be careful what you wish for. This book has a great life lesson and it teaches kids to appreciate even the things they may not like, because everything is that way for a reason. This book is for visual readers, beginners, or ELLs- the pictures guide the story, and the use of color was very beneficial to the story.
The storytelling is also more powerful. It jumps right into a story and doesn’t let the reader go. It doesn’t talk down to kids or sound like a vocabulary lesson. Appartiene alle Collane EditorialiToon Books (Level 3)
