Fiction. Romance. Humor (Fiction.) HTML:

It's Romeo and Juliet all over again...

As a teen, Maddy Harvey was a bit of an ugly duckling. Luckily she's blossomed since then, and Maddy thanks God for this small miracle when a tall, handsome stranger comes to her rescue one starry summer's night.

Instant attraction turns to disaster-in-the-making when Maddy learns the identity of her superman: Kerr McKinnon. Of all the colorful residents of the small Cotswold town of Ashcombe, why did it have to be him? Because as family feuds go, the Montagues and the Capulets have nothing on the Harveys and the McKinnons.

Praise for Don't Want to Miss a Thing:

"Mansell keeps churning out hits with her signature blend of humor, romance, and multiple happy endings." â??Booklist

"One of the masters of fun, upbeat fiction with twists of romance." â??Shelf Awareness… (altro)

This will be short. This book is terrible.

The characters are not redeeming except for two of them (Maddy and Kerr) and if the book had stayed on just Maddy and Kerry I would have liked it more. Instead we have male characters calling female characters fat, ugly, and all kinds of crap. We get some ridiculousness when one character treats a woman separate from his girlfriend with respect (that is how you know he cares about her) and the constant bed hopping though people claimed to be in love with someone was it.

Usually Mansell can juggle multiple story-lines, she can't in this one. And I am realizing that most of her books follow the same formula and it's getting old. We usually get a woman who is in her 40s and widowed (Maddy's mother) a woman who can't seem to find a boyfriend or has a terrible one (Maddy's best friend) and then just random characters that flit in and out of the story.

I didn't take any pleasure in the writing or flow since I just felt annoyed and wanted the book to get over with already. The ending was a big old shrug from me. ( )

Jill was an ugly duckling, but not anymore. Unfortunately, she comes into her own only to fall for the son of the family her own family despises, with reason. ( )

Secrets are almost always destructive and are the main theme of this novel. The women in this novel are all quite strong and appealing - larger than life, even. It was nice to have all those lovely characters have their lives turn out happily at the end. ( )

This is my favourite Mansell so far. There were many characters I liked and the story was not very predictable. I had a healthy dislike for the Marcella character - what a bossy woman interfering with other people's lives. ( )
