The story shows a ceremonial mask being thrown away when they begin to build. It is a lesson for us to take notice of nature. A really interesting idea for a book. The author heard the English hymn, "Lord of the Dance," and thought it reminded her of the role of the mask in the Senufo people's dances in Africa. She rewrote the hymn to be about the Mask and illustrated it in the style of Senufo art, but in bright colors instead of brown vegetable ink. The info at the end of the book about the role of masks in the Senufo culture makes the story make a lot more sense. The text is written as if it were lyrics to a song or poetry, but I don't think it would match up to the music from "Lord of the Dance." I would be interested to see how it would sound. This could be used in curriculum about dance around the world or folktales. It could also be used in learning aobut African culture, Senufo in particular. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
