Vera is finally thrilled to be starting school! She wakes up early and is ready to walk to school. Her backpack is all packed and ready to learn. When Vera finally gets to school she is nervous and does not want to go in the building. Before long she realizes all the children are gone and the doors are closed. She is late for school and decides to go home. Her mother finds her and brings her back to school. Vera soon realizes that there is nothing to be nervous about in school and she has a wonderful second day. This is a wonderful story to read to children on their first day. Children can relate to this story because many are very nervous on their first day. ( )

Vera starts off in this book excited, it is her first day at school and she can’t wait. She gets dressed before her sisters and waits for the sun to come up. She then wakes her sisters up, and they walk to school. When they arrive at school, her sister tells her bye and they meet up with their friends. Vera is confused, she hears the bell ring and all the kids are gone from the playground. Vera is confused and sad at this point, she doesn’t know what to do, so she walks home. Her mom finds her underneath her bed and talks to her. She walks Vera back to school and brings her to class. Vera’s teacher is very nice and so are her classmates. At the end of the story, she feels relieved and realizes school is so bad. Vera character defiantly grows in this story. She goes through plenty of emotions throughout the book. I think this would be a cute book to read to your child before they start school. ( )

Vera is so excited to start school. She thinks about all the different things she use to do while her sisters were at school. She is so thrilled to get dressed for school and pack all of her school supplies. She is so excited to shout for her sisters to wake up for school. When her sisters walk with her to school she feels comforted. Finally when she gets to school and her sisters go meet with their friends she feels confused. She doesn't understand what's going on and who she will be friends with. Vera goes home and her mom understands how hard it is to be the new kid at school. She was relieved when her mom brought her to school and walked her in her new class. The teacher was happy to meet Vera and everyone in class was friendly.Starting at a new school isn't so bad after all! ( )
