Is a collection of fiction and non-fiction ghost stories and haunted houses in San Francisco. Has various different time periods used from the Victorian era up to the 20th century. The "author" is also listed as editor. It does not see that the author really penned any of the stories contained in the book. He has collected them from various different other sources books and even newspapers. Has a short story by Mark Twain but he's the only author of note to me. From North Beach to South of Market to Golden Gate Park and points in between, ghosts have made their spectral presences known. This remarkable anthology pulls together the first ever collection of ghost stories set exclusively in San Francisco. The stories are a mix of journalism, folklore, and just pure creative imagination. Also included are several investigations of haunted houses including interviews with people who lived in them. The two dozen stories span nearly a century and a half and include the works of such literary heavyweights as Mark Twain and Jack London, as well as many lesser known men and women. Some of the stories are eerie and mysterious, some humorous. A few are republished here for the first time in over a century. Whether you are fascinated by ghosts, love San Francisco, or just enjoy a good story, this book is for you. Book jacket. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
