I was just as impressed with this story as I was with book one, 'The Inklings'. The author does a great job of making you feel like you are there on the Oxford University campus and in this story, also in Paris. I also got to know a lot more about two famous authors, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien and feel like they were authors that I need to get to know even more. But mostly this story was about people who are challenged in their faithful commitment to Christ and how they needed to renew their dependence upon God's grace and mercy. I don't want to give anything away, but the funeral service that David MacKenzie speaks at was so well spoken that it had a deep impact upon me. There were tears shed, but joy comes in the morning. Newlyweds Kate and David MacKenzie find themselves excited about two things: one, they get to spend a semester in Paris teaching, and they are expecting their first child. The story will revolve around these two things, but will also revolve around two of their good friends, Austen Holmes and Yvette Goodman. Austen and Yvette will slowly realize that their friendship is turning into much more than just friends. Although this is a story filled with love and romance, it is also so much more and I came away very encouraged and satisfied having read both these books. This one picks up right where book one left off so I strongly encourage folks to read them in the order they were written. Now I look forward to the next in this series, "Evasions".
