I don't know how authentic this would feel to its intended audience, but I loved it. Jesse's sister is resentful, and then does benefit from the lesson that Jesse teaches. Regular" children too could benefit from being taken outside and shown how to really see clouds, flowers, etc. The 'God made Jesse special" bit isn't a big deal - this atheist was not bothered, as it's just this family having faith and not the author preaching that all families should believe."
