Favorite line, hands down: "If they'd had issues before, they had subscriptions, now."

For Wren, the battle on the bridge was a pivotal moment. No longer will she stand by and watch the Cosa tear itself to bits while being attacked from without. She knows what has to be done, but with her Current gone murky gray with black overtones, still on the outs with Sergei, and the casualty count rising, will she be able to hold things together long enough to stop the Silence?

Slightly less dark than Burning Bridges, but no less gripping - a few more secrets revealed, some tentative healing on the horizon... can't wait to see what Gilman has in store for Wren & company next! (

A pretty intense resolution to the building confrontation of the last few books. I was glad to see that there is another installment, mostly because now I want to know how it all went down. How Wren survived, etc. There are some interesting questions brought up in this novel - like what do you do with traumatic experiences? How much control can you be expected to have and what are the long-term consequences if there is a loss? Does it have to be irreversible? While these questions apply to the magical world of the book, they also seem to apply to the real world too. Which, I think, makes this book rise above the basic genre story. (

Didn't like as much as I did earlier ones, probably because Sergei and Wren were separated for much of the book. But the book started to pick up in the second half and I finally wanted to finish it. In the earlier part of the book, I considered returning it to the library without finishing it. (

Le ton de la conversation était poli, feutré, parfaitement en accord avec le cadre : une vaste bibliothèque aux murs partiellement couverts de livres reliés de cuir fin, encadrant une cheminée en marbre.
