Frankie Stein is born, but looks nothing like the rest of the Stein family. His parents begin to train him in all things scary, so that he can blend in with the rest of the family. Frankie tries and tries, but never seems to please his parents with his "scariness". So Frankie decides to be himself, and this scares his parents more than anything else.

The author exaggerated words like "OHHHHHHH" and "OHH", to show the difference between how the parents and Frankie spoke. The author also used font sizes to her advantage to show exaggeration. Overall, this book was precious, and gave a great message to kids about being themselves. ( )

A new family that has a little trouble having their son look like them. They are meant to be scary but Frankie can't but that doesn't stop him from trying. He soon realizes that being yourself works just as well. ( )

Frankie Stein was born on a sunny day. Unlike his scary looking parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank N. Stein, Frankie is cute. Frankie's parents try to make Frankie look and act scary. One night Frankie tells his parents that he "will be scary too, just wait and see." The next morning Frankie emerges with his golden hair, shiny white teeth, and perfect skin. His parents are absolutely horrified. Frankie becomes the scariest Stein of all, until France Stein is born.
The author writes the story through the conversations between Mr. and Mrs. Frank N. Stein and their son, Frankie. The author uses change in font and color to emphasize certain words.
The illustrations cover each page completely. The illustrations are drawn to look like cartoons. The illustrations truly bring the story to life with the way Frankie and his parents are portrayed. ( )

Great halloween book about being accepting of others no matter what the differences. Frankie is born into a family of spooks and he is just a normal boy. His parents try and try to make him become scary and to change his look to be like them. One day Frankie decides to really scare them by just being himself. His genious plan works and they all live happily. ( )
