This is a legend of Annuk who was lost at sea because of a huge storm and was never found again. One day a fisherman was fishing and caught a skeleton. He was scarfed because the skeleton followed him home and he didn't know who the skeleton was and eventually his tears brought her back to life. ( ) A man who is fishing in a forbidden and haunted Aleutian inlet inadvertently snags the bones of Annuk, a young woman who was washed away by a tsunami. In fear, he rushes to get away, but ends up dragging her skeleton all the way back to his igloo. Eventually, he realizes that the bones cannot hurt him, and he takes pity on the poor soul of the person who, like him, has been alone for so long. In tender compassion and loving concern, he thoroughly cleans the bones, then lays them out in place together. He sheds tears, and then dreams about the skeloeon's lonely life under the sea. He wakes up to find Annuk alive again, and they live the rest of their lives happily together. This is an old Innuit legend of Annuk who is never found after a great tsunami. A fisherman laters hooks something from the sea and finds that it is a skeleton. He is initially scared because it follows him home until he starts to ponder about who the skeleton was. His tears make the skeleton, who turned out to be Annuk, comes back to life. The language is quite simple without a lot of detail but the illustrations make the story more interesting. The overall theme is that love can overcome anything, even death. This book was interesting. It focused on Inuits that live in Alaska. A little girl was lost at sea. She becoame a living skeleton that lived at sea. A fisherman caught her and he cleaned her bones. His kindness brole the spell and she returned to flesh.
