The Little Soul and the Sun A Children's Parable Adapted from Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch Illustrated by Frank Riccio This is a totally inspired spiritual tale for children of all ages. Told in such a lovely way it brings up many spiritual principals in a simple format that our youngsters as well as ourselves can remember and marvel at the power of God. The soft and loving illustrations really helped to bring forth the beauty of the story and the wonderment we call Heaven. The type is large and easy to follow along and I can see this becoming a favorite bedtime read for many a lightworker's child, or grandchild. I think it will be perfect for me also at those 3 am times when my head overrides my serenity. I would recommend this precious little book to anyone who cares about their spiritual growth and development and that of our younger souls as well. Thanks Neale. - perguntou a Pequena Alma. - Claro!
The Little Soul and the Sun is a simple and powerful story that brings children a very profound truth: there is not absolute good or bad--that underneath all that happens in the world, all that we call "good" and all that we call "bad," is love. Your child will discover a God that she or he can love, because God is love, as are all the Little Souls who are a part of God. And perhaps parents, too, will rediscover who they really are. On the one hand, it is very sweet. The illustrations really carry the text in that regard. I am very impressed by the art.
On the other hand, it has just enough "blame the victim" to leave a bad taste in my brain. I actually do appreciate the philosophy that, on some level, we choose to exist in space and time as a way to experience things we couldn't otherwise experience. But I'm not sure that telling that to a child is actually helpful. It felt more like "bad things are your fault" than "everyone should be loved."
Granted, it's possible that I'm simply not the right audience for this work. But I'm still not planning to find a copy for any of the children in my life. ( )
