What a good little book. It was the title that caught my eye. Of course, it goes without saying that the author is one of my favorites. I was surprised that the little black book wasn’t the star of the show. Then it dawned on me that it would have been boring to read about one date after another. Brenda Jackson used the ‘rule of three’ and Courtney had just the three dates. Two would have left me wanting her to try more. Four would have made me wonder why she kept setting her up for failure. Three was enough to tell her that it wasn’t working.

The title, in my opinion, is symbolic of looking for the perfect relationship. We flip the pages of our little black book to see who we should try to connect with next; hook up in the vernacular of the day. Though the book was about Courtney Andrews, three other women shared the spotlight and all three wanted the same thing, the perfect man.

I initially thought the sex was overdone, but again, I think it was symbolic of what many people mistake for love. Lust. Ron was also seeking the perfect hookup to feed his lustful addiction. There was a distinct difference in his sexual exploits and those of Courtney. Did you notice the difference?

The end left me with a sense of hope. Hope that Brenda Jackson will at some point in the future fill us in on Barbara and Rick Blair as well as Peggy and Willie Baker! ( )

Courtney Drew doesn't trust men, with good reasons. Her own father has spent the 30 years of his marriage in various affairs and leaving a trail of illegitimate children. Her uncle was also a player, a married player. But before her cousin Sonya leaves on her honeymoon, she gives Courtney her prized little black book and elicits a promise that Courtney will spend the next month seriously dating. Little black book or not, Courtney still can't catch a break. Lake Masters is a man who likes women. When he first sees Courtney, his heart stops. When he first talks to her, he knows he has found his soul mate. He knows Fate has destined them for each other. Now, he just has to gain her trust. The continuing soap opera drama and antics of Courtney's family members don't make Lake's job any easier. The glimpses into the sexual lives of many of the different characters keeps the writing hot and spicy.

I loved it. She might be gettin her touch back. I actually found myself more interested in the secondary plot going on rather than the primary. 4hrs 26mins
