I liked this book for a several reasons. First, I like this informational book because it sticks with the main theme of the book, bugs. A bug is given for each letter of the alphabet. For example, letter T is a picture of a termite, and it says "termite tunnels." I think the theme of bugs throughout the book shows the organization in the writing of the author, David Kirk. Second, I like this book because the ABC example are all alliterations. For example, M says, "moths mingle." Not only were the alliterations informative, but also engaging. The alliterations helped readers understand the letters more thoroughly. Third, I like the illustrations in the book. The illustrations are bright, engaging, and friendly. The illustration for each letter included a couple bugs. For example. for the A, "ants await," page it includes a picture of two brightly colored ants talking. The main idea of the story was an informative text, in which a spider gets a surprise party and each gets represents a letter in the alphabet. ( )

David Kirk's picture book offers children a different way of learning the alphabet. The books main character is a spider, but the book also introduces other insects and other things that would involve spiders. The picture are big and vibrant. There are enough words to help young children follow along.

I would recommend this book to any child trying to learn his or her alphabet, because the book it very helpful and colorful. It is a great way for children to learn the pictures in the book by putting the letter with it. ( )
