I keep reading these because of the strengths of the characters--like the amazing Rosa--even though by this point Ogilvie stopped doing anything interesting with them. By this point in the series, Ogilvie has lost her touch at showing the inner turmoil of island life and the reader is left thinking no one in Maine does anything but make lunch and go for walks. But she is very good at showing the growth of relationships and it's fun to grow old alongside Joanna and Nils, even when they are boring as hell. ( )
