A compelling story of three unforgettable young women, in the tradition of Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. This is a wonderfully passionate & absorbing novel exploring the lives of three very different girls in their first year out of school, who share an inner city house. All three girls come from the same small country town. Katrina, privileged, beautiful, & sophisticated, is the daughter of a wealthy medical family; Carmel, from a struggling farming family is overweight & inhibited, but has a gift for music, & Jude, a medical student, is the daughter of a Chilean doctor who was murdered when she was two. "This is truly a story for the 90's." - AGE. McCarthy makes the reader's heart hurt with compassion." - HERALD SUN. "A multi-layered story that will have the reader laughing and crying, probably at the same time." - WEST AUSTRALIAN Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

It tells of one momentous year in the life of three country girls who are sharing a house in Melbourne for their first year of Uni. Katerina is a blonde goddess rich bitch; Jude's father was killed in Chile and she is determined to become a doctor like him and continue his good work; and Carmel is shy and insecure but with the voice of an angel.
The story is told by all three of them - Carmel, then Jude, then Katerina.
I liked Carmel's story the best, I could identify with her the most. The first half of Jude's story dragged the whole book for a while, until things got meaty and interesting. And Katerina's story is very good, but felt a bit rushed after the first two stories. ( )
