The first story was kinda boring to me, because I've 'been there done that' with setting up shop with seeds etc. from the yard. A child who hasn't done much imaginative play like that might treasure the story.

Each subsequent story was, imo, richer & fresher. The whole thing was very sweet. The pictures were rather busy, but you might like them that way better than I did. Since this is a collection of stories it is a little longer than most books aimed at preschoolers, but it would of course be easy to break up over several sessions, if your child is wiggly.

I do like some special bits:
Alfie found it very hard to stand still for long, but we pretended he was a tree growing by the fence and that made it easier."
