This is unlike Ainsworth's other novels and is really a Gothic fantasy involving an elixir designed to give the drinker immortality. A lighthearted romp but with an ending that I personally felt to be a bit of a damp squib, though it may have been more original when the novel was published in 1844. My Kindle edition also contained a couple of unconnected pieces about a London gentleman and a short first person story at in Rome about a vendetta. ( ) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
