The very first book I had read from Susanna Kearsley was The Rose Garden. That book sparked my fascination with Kearsley. If I see her name on the books, I instantly add it to my to read section. I am always enthralled by the worlds she creates and the characters she brings to life. Mariana is about a character named Julia Beckett who begins to have dreams about a world from the past. Julia soon realizes that history isn't always kept in the past, and that some people were waiting there for her all along. Susanna Kearsley's voice flows very pleasantly and it was a very satisfying read. The English village life is described vividly and intimately and I am kind of surprised she is Canadian. Although, I don't really know if I believe in reincarnations, I liked Julia traversing back in time in this way and this mix of contemporary and historical fiction. The ending took me by surprise and I had to mull over it for a while. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
