E' la biografia del serial killer Ted Bundy raccontata da una testimone privilegiata perchè ne fece conoscenza molti anni prima della cattura e ne rimase in contatto fino al processo. Scritto con un linguaggio molto semplice, non manca di efficacia nè di dettagli che consentono di ricostruire l'ambigua personalità del protagonista. Molto spazio viene dato anche al carattere di coloro che si occuparono delle indagini ed alle traversie legate alla cattura, al processo, alla sentenza. Nessuno badò al giovane che usciva dalla stazione degli autobus Trailways a Tallahassee, in Florida, all'alba di domenica 8 gennaio 1978. Sembrava un universitario - forse un pò più anziano della media - e si confondeva facilmente coi trentamila studenti arrivati nella capitale della Florida quella settimana. Proprio come aveva programmato. Si sentiva a proprio agio, a casa, nell'atmosfera di un campus.
In realtà , pur essendo comunque negli Stati Uniti, si trovava nel luogo più lontano possibile da casa sua. Aveva programmato anche quello, come faceva sempre.
