A bunch of people and animals are yawning at the sight of each other. A picture book with only pictures gives the reader more open in interpreting what the story is about. A man is yawning when he sees the sun, a man is yawning when he sees a dog. A woman with a dog yawns, Aliens lined up are yawning. The protagonist of this story is the man we see yawning as he wakes up peacefully in the beginning and at the end when he naps. This book is significant in that yawning means one is bored and wants to sleep. So sleeping I bet is one of his favorite things to do. ( )

(easy wordless picture). You ever notice how you can't help yawning? Or how yawns are contagious? This book through illustrations explores that phenomena. We follow a young boy's yawn as he awakes in the morning, who it spreads to during the day, all the way to a group of aliens who gives it to the moon. The moon, in turn, gives it back to the boy as he is climbing into bed for his night's rest. A really cute book, made me smile. It would be fun to have a "yawning contest" with kids. If a teacher/ adult started a yawn, who wouldn't be able to resist? How long could they hold off? You could also explore what a yawn is and why we yawn. ( )
