Faith is the first principle of revealed religion and the foundation of all righteousness. Now tailh is the substance (assurance) of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen; Htft. 11. That to use the word assurance, instead of substance, would be the proper rendering of the above passage, is evident from the 22d verse of the previous chapter: Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith.
