The title and cover of this anthology might confuse some unobservant browsers. They have the appearance of a collection of "true" supernatural encounters. Actually the book contains fiction - 13 short stories featuring ghosts and set in New England. The most famous of the bunch are probably Stephen Vincent Benet's The Devil and Daniel Webster and Lovecraft's Herbert West - Reanimator. While they don't all fall into the literary genius category, the others are fun particularly if you enjoy the uncanny. I also liked the fact that after each story was a short blurb about the author.
Oh, and for other Twilight Zone fans out there, an adaptation of the episode "Changing of the Guard" by Rod Serling's daughter, Anne, is included. ( )
