This book is more of a fairy tale. It is about cars that are hanging out and like to smash and crash things. This one is more for toddlers. It is a cute book about different kinds of cars. ( )

Welcome to Trucktown!, by Jon Scieszka, was kind of lame to say it straight forward. While the illustrations were great and showed a lot of detail and describe the text very well, there really wasn't much to this story. There also was not a good big picture that I could see. The story was very bland, and the plot seemed kind of pointless. Two trucks go around and smash and crash things all day long till a big truck comes and sakes the to help him smash and crash things. One positive I could see is the language was easy to read and was very repetitive, along with being very guy friendly. This Trucktown series is all about getting boys to read, and this kind of senseless smash crash book might pull young boys who aren't fond of reading yet. While the plot was poor and the language was good the characters seemed very irrelevant. The characters were different vehicles which to a young boy is awesome, but they didn't not really go well with their personality. The one main characters is stow truck but all he does his break things and smash things, I would expect a tow truck to be friendly and helpful. In the end a good book to pull young uninterested readers into reading, but no real big picture that I could see. ( )

This book is about many different kinds of trucks that gather together to the orders of Jack, the lead truck. They all line up. They are joined by a bull dozer named Pete. They then all drive up, down, left and right. Finally, all the trucks stack themselfs on top of each other.
*To use in nursery school setting, activities to learn left from right, up versus down and different colors. ( )

Suggested age: Grade K-2. Genre: Fantasy (low).
Dump Truck Dan and Jack Truck are friends who love to smash and crash. They also like to invite their friends to join in. Sometimes it works well. Sometimes it works out well, and other times not so much. The whole time, they try to keep ahead of someone big who is after them. This book would be good for discussing predictions as well as choices people make.

Amazingly illustrated book with bright, vivid colors. Jack and Dan are really into smashing and crashing everything. They visit all their friends to see if they want to join them in some smash-crash fun. Their friends are too busy to help Jack and Dan but they make a mess (or try to be helpful) anyway. They are being followed by a shadow and a big booming voice. They try to get out of there but then are backed into a corner. The strong voice and huge shadow end up being Wrecking Crane Rosie and she just wants some help.
