A young boy has anxiety about moving to a new place and leaving his home and friends behind. He is afraid that he will feel alone in the new home and it will not be the same. The book takes us through the journey of him and his family packing up everything from their old house and reminiscing about all of the good times they had in that house. When they finally move in to the new house, the boy is surprised by balloons and letters from old friends welcoming him to the new house. Now the boy realizes that the new house will not be so bad after all. I liked the message of the book and think some students could relate to the anxiety the boy was feeling. I also think students would be comforted by the ending of the book and how the boy was happy in his new house. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Tommy is helping his mom and dad pack up everything in their house because they are moving. Tommy has mild anxiety about moving. He had a dream that he was at a fair, riding a horse. The horse then disappeared and he was lost. No one around him knew who he was. This dream portraits his mild anxiety of being new and lost after he moves into the new city and into his new house.
While cleaning up, he finds old toys, photos, and a snakeskin. Also, Tommy discovers a crawl space while helping his mom. He goes in the crawl space and discovers two things. One, a large nest of wasps, which explained where the house wasps were coming from. Two, an old cigar box from 1909 which had some cool artifacts in it.
As Tommy discovers objects, he remembers the memories and becomes happy instead of sad because they are moving. Once they are all packed up, they load up the trucks and say goodbye to their old neighbors and friends.
Tommy learns that he can keep the best of his old memories and combine it with the best of his new memories. His emotions go from worried, scared, sad, and lost to happy and excited. Tommy gets to make new friends and make more memories, which he is excited to do! ( )
