Korte verhalen in het genre dat ik eigenlijk bovennatuurlijke fictie (supernatural fiction?) zou willen noemen. Het is geen echte fantasy of science fiction maar niet eng genoeg om horror te zijn terwijl er wel veel horror-personages in worden gebruikt.

Laurell Hamilton is een vlotte schrijfster met een aantal leuke ideeën, al richt ze zich in haar boeken wel erg op de vrouwelijke lezer. In haar Anita Blake serie (waar hier ook een lang verhaal over in staat) vind ik de erotisch gerichte onderdelen wat erg overheersend worden en afleiden van het spannende verhaal dat ik eigenlijk veel leuker vind. Ik ben blij te merken dat ze ook een aantal verhalen geschreven heeft waar dat niet zo op de voorgrond staat; misschien dat ik ook eens ga kijken welke andere leuke series ze geschreven heeft.

Dit verhalenboek is lekker leesbaar, heeft aardige verhalen, maar is niet heel hoogstaand of origineel - al kan dat er ook aan liggen dat ik meer van boeken dan van korte verhalen hou. (
