4½ stars for the book but I didn't really care for Jeremy Sinden's narration. In particular, his voices for Lord Emsworth and his sister Connie grated on me. ( )
Excellent. If forced to select a single Wodehouse pig-pilfering Blandings Castle novel, it would be "Summer Lightning." Fortunately, the world is not so cruel, and requires no such choice.

Jsou knihy, při jejichž čtení by člověk nevěřil, že může být jinak než hezky slunečno, s nebem do modra. A taková jsou všechna díla P.G.Wodehouse. Jméno tohoto anglického autora je pro milovníky humoristické literatury pojmeme. Žil v letech 1881-1975 a napsal přes šedesát románů, tři sta povídek, šestnáct divadelních her a třiadvacet muzikálů. Jeho práce se překládaly po celém světě a dosáhly obliby především díky vynalézavé a osobité slovní komice a nápaditým situačním gagům. Wodehousovou doménou je svět anglických rodových sídel, s poněkud natvrdlými erbovními pány, kteří by byli zcela ztraceni bez svých oddaných lišáckých komorníků.Psal románové cykly se svými nejzdařilejšímí postavami nebo okolo svých oblíbenýchlokalit, jako je řekněmě zámek Blandings. I v románě Až naprší a uschne se stává zámek Blandings dějištěm nečekaných příhod, v nichž klíčovou roli sehrají miláčkové místních urozených usedlíků- prasata, která mají získat ostruhy na zamědělské výstavě. Rather silly but very entertaining. Wodehouse uses the same formula as other books but this one is funnier, probably because the pigs kept appearing in the wrong places. ( )
