This book was a tribute to the holiday of Passover, celebrated by millions of Jewish people. This is a touch and feel book designed for young babies and children. It offers a variety of surfaces for children to feel, like sticky wine drops, the leather cover of the Haggadah book, and the bumpy texture of matzah bread. The illustrations are simple, big, and bold. Having the textured items to touch adds to the illustration and is designed to be the focal point for children to focus on. As someone who grew up with two Jewish best friends (as a Roman Catholic) I was always fascinated by the Passover meal and traditions they adhered to. My birthday typically fell around Passover, so my very traditional Jewish friends could only eat certain foods. I learned a lot about respecting different religions than mine through my friends and their families. I think a book like this is a wonderful way to introduce children to different people and religions they will one day encounter.
