A good story, with great character development - in fact I'd say it's as much character-driven as it is plot-driven. On the negative side, it's a little unbalanced in that it feels like a regular book with some creepy horror bits in it, rather than being a horror book as such. Still, the build-up is good and the climax is satisfying.

I feel that the final creepy reveal right at the very end spoiled it a little, for what it meant for the future of his relationship with Ellie. (
