Nightshift : involves the type of female cop that should be more of - confident, able to hold her own against guys. Colt Nightshift is overly nice yet effective. Cares for his friends, helps save a girl from further porn movies, knows when to let Althea do her job the right way as a cop. Night Smoke : Liked the hidden chemistry between them. Natalie is driven workaholic who realizes her life never included what love really is. She was too perfect though, basketball star, sexy, accurate, perfect timing. Arson investigator, Ry, was impulsive, tell it like it is, willing to admit she was beyond his caliber. Brought in Boyd from earlier book as cop and relative helping. ( )

Originally published by Harlequin Romance back in the early '90's both of these have a surprisingly contemporary feel. Strong pre-shadowing of the relationship and type of story NR tells in the Eve Dallas books. Quick reads, both of them. ( )

NIGHTSHADE. Enjoyable romantic thriller where lone PI teams up with Police Lieutentant to search for a missing girl. I would have liked to known more about Colt's background as it touched briefly on his close family, air force, ranch etc. whereas Althea's past was more to the fore.
NIGHTSMOKE.Another good one from Nora Roberts. The characters were attractive and the story was a little to neatly wrapped up for my liking. Nemesis, a ghostly shadow that haunted the streets and helped the police in catching the culprit was not properly explained enough. I just didn't get that, at all. ( )
