A wonderfully uplifting and inspirational story of one man's determination to overcome his disability and work the land he loved so much. When most would have given up on life, Sam Bailey forged ahead, beat the odds, and showed "his old mate quadriplegia" how it's done. Proof that determination and will power can beat anything, especially when you have the right people by your side to cheer you on. This was also an amazing story of how true love can see beyond limitations. ( ) This is a deeply moving book - both very sad, and very uplifting. It gives a unique look into the life of a young man struck with tragedy in the form of a car accident resulting in disability. It follows the battles of getting through such, out of hospital and adapting to life and then conquering life. Great book. Sam Bailey was 19 and working as a jackaroo in the NT, Australia when he became a quadraplegic after he was thrown out of a car window when a car that he was passenger in, rolled, because he was not wearing a seat belt. In the time since his accident he has learned many things including how to fly a Ultralite plane, how to ride a 4 wheel motor bike and lots of other things around the farm. He has also become an public speaker. A truly inspirational story about how someone can achieve when the odds are against you - he comes across as a well adjusted, happy and doing person. It is hard though to imagine how Sam gets around, but it is amazing that he has learnt to do so much. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
Sam Bailey wanted a life on the land just like his father. He had it all planned - he'd finish his education, have a few years in the big wide world and then return home to take the reins from his dad, get married and raise a family. His own version of the Australian dream. But when the car Sam was travelling in overturned on a lonely country road one Sunday afternoon, leaving him a quadraplegic, Sam discovered that in a split second your life can change forever, in ways that you had never imagined. Head Over Heels is more than the story of how Sam conquered his disability through sheer tenacity and the unstinting support of family, friends and doctors. It is a captivating romance. The day Sam met Jenny, an ABC rural journalist, he discovered love can come from the most unexpected places and overcome all boundaries. His marriage proposal to her 'live' on ABC Radio moved thousands of listeners. The phones jammed and the fax machine ran out of paper as the congratulations flowed in. Head Over Heels is a reminder to us all that when you love life, nothing is impossible. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
