The Cherokee is a book about how the Cherokee weave baskets, what material they used to weave the baskets, as well as interesting facts on the Cherokee lifestyle. They used bark and roots to weave the baskets and used them to carry food, game, and other necessities. The book also told how over time the Cherokee changed the material used to build the baskets because of moving to different environments. It also gave facts about the Cherokee culture. For example, how the Milky Way was formed, how they built houses, and how wedding ceremonies were preformed. This book was very interesting and I loved all of the facts it gave about the Cherokee culture. This would be a great book for a classroom. This book gave step by step instructions on how to weave your own mat cushion. The teacher could provide the material for the students to create their own mat cushions. This book could also be used to introduce the Cherokee culture or how the Trail of Tears changed how the Cherokee lived. Another way the book could be used is, if possible, the teacher could have a member of the Cherokee tribe come to class and help the children weave their own baskets. This book is an informative book on how the Cherokee Indians created baskets and the history of the Cherokee people. The book describes how the Cherokee were driven from Georgia to Oklahoma on the Trail of Tears. The book goes into detail about how to make baskets, what they were used for, and the many traditions and beliefs of the Cherokee people. The book is full of illustrations and captions describing traditions and beliefs. There is an index in the front of the book which is helpful if your looking for a particular part of the Cherokee people. This book is great for teaching multicultures. As a teacher you could have children learn to weave baskets with a guest speaker. You could also teach them how to bead. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
