This book was a gift from my mom. I am the middle child. I tear up every time I read it. There is a part in the book that says the middle child is like the honey on a sandwich, she holds the family all together, There are 3 books one for each birth order explaining why that child is special. The illustrations are cute with pastel colors. ( )

Genre: Fantasy (storyline=realistic fiction)

Point of View: This story is told from the point of view of Middle Cub. It adds to the story because the main character, Middle Cub, learns throughout the story that even though Mama doesn't "love her the most" she is loved just as much and she is special.

Review: This book describes a mother sharing the unique and special qualities of her middle child. This book is a good example of fantasy because the specific characters and their setting couldn't actually take place in our world. However, it is a good example of a realistic fiction book because the situation of the story could take place within a family.
