Third book in the series, Darkling is a nice progression of the overall saga. A new demon character is introduced who we will likely see more of as the story progresses. Good character development & strong storyline. The book was a little slow to start but I don't believe that it could have been handled any other way given the main character's old history that the readers needed to understand. So this book wasn't as bad as the last one, but it wasn't as good as the first one. Or maybe the novelty just wore off for me. Anyway, I'm glad to have this little series done. It wasn't a bad series - by no means a great one, but also not a terrible one. It had some neat ideas, and if it could have skipped the yucky sex scenes and "liberated" women, it probably would have been a bit better. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a thing against liberated women. I consider myself a feminist. But this series seemed to equate sexual promiscuity with "liberation" (a rather common thing in books, I've seen), which just kind of turns me off. I liked the overarching story, but I really could have done without the emotionless, nasty sex scenes, thanks. And in case you think I'm some kind of prude - I'm not. I read tons of romance novels, I even enjoy some good erotica - I just don't like the cold, meaningless copulation that these books seem to embrace. But maybe that's just me. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

HTML: We're the D'Artigo sisters: Half-human, half-Faerie, we are savvy---and sexy---operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. But our mixed-blood heritage short-circuits our talents at all the wrong times. My sister Camille is a wicked-good witch whose magic is as unpredictable as the weather. My sister Delilah transforms into a tabby cat when she's under stress. And me? I'm Menolly, acrobat-extraordinaire-turned-vampire. And I'd give my right fang to make my sire pay for killing me. That is, if he doesn't find me first... All over Seattle, humans have been going missing, only to turn up as newborn vampires---the sure sign of a rogue vamp on the loose. It looks like Dredge is to blame---the same sadistic Dredge who gave me my scars and who may well be in cahoots with the demon Shadow Wing. If so, Otherworld and Earth are screwed. The only way we can hope to defeat Dredge is for me to travel home to Otherworld and face my own demons. For unless I sever the ties that bind me to Dredge, all hell is going to break loose. .Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

The D'Artigo sisters and the rest of the cast are memorable and each is enjoyable in their own right. They hold their own and are well rounded. I love how the sisters have their flaws because of them being half-fae and half-human. I enjoy seeing the way some humans, such as Chase, show some uneasiness or acceptance in the paranormal making them feel real. I enjoyed the new character Roz as he fit into the story with ease and not as an afterthought character.
After reading the first 2 novels, I didn't know how I would enjoy this one; I am not a big vampire person. I lean towards witches. But after reading this one, Menolly became my favorite character. I love her personality and how much she cares about her friends and family, and vampire circle. Especially the way she connected to Maggie, and she herself doesn't know why.
I enjoyed how the murders of this story intertwined with Menolly's background. We received bits of pieces of her background, how she felt mentally, and how she cared about her sister's feelings on what happened in the first 2 novels. In this novel, we didn't find the whole story until a little later when something happens.
The novel was exciting to read and a page-turner. The only time I put it down was when I needed to sleep, leave to go somewhere, or needed a break. Being part of a romance series, there were not too many romance scenes like the last 2 novels. The story didn't call for many scenes. The ones were in there felt part of the story and any more would have felt forced.
I recommend this book and series to anyone who wants to find a new author or paranormal romance series. I am glad I found this series and took a chance.
