Summary: "The Dream Pillow" is a story about two girls who become friends after working together to conquer a string of nightmares. The two girls, Celeste and Ivy, live next to each other but aren't friends. One day, during a party, Ivy gives Celeste a pillow.. At first, Ivy assumes the pillow will give off magical dreams. This is not the case however, as it gives only nightmares. Ivy realizes this and then gives the pillow back to Celeste. Once Ivy realizes Celeste is falling asleep in class and failing to show up, she decides to tell the truth. The two girls work together to cease the existence of nightmares. In turn, they become great friends.
Review: For young children, this would be a great story to read. It shows the power of friendship in action. While some parts may have seemed off to include in a children's book, I feel as though this is a great read before bed. Children will love the moral (friendship) and be amused by the illustrations. "The Dream Pillow", is a story about friendship and the old saying don't judge a book by it's cover comes into play as well. The author approach this common issue of making new friends through the power of dreams. This made the book reliable to all children because no one wants to have bad dreams. This book is good for leisure reading among 2nd and 3rd graders. However it can be read to kindergarten and 1st graders as well. ( )
