Mrs Milburn died in 1961 and her diaries were not discovered until some 20 years later. They are an account of World War II, seen through the eyes of a civilian whose family was involved in the war. They tell of the destruction and futility of war and the suffering it entailed. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

This was my carry-over from 2007 - still had 100 pages to go when I fell asleep!
The WWII diaries of an ordinary housewife, this is an interesting book, primarily because she lived in the Midlands, so there's lots of information on Birmingham and Coventry (prompting us to pop to see the Cathedral today after we've been to IKEA) and she reports all the news as (they find out) it happens - not the same as in the history books. Not as emotionally engaging as Nella Last, but a good documentary piece.
