I really enjoyed this collection of poetry. Each poem is about a different animal and they all come across simple and pleasant. The illustrations pair well with each poem. ( )

Each poem is paired with an illustration and animal. The goes through many animals and points of view. I like how it is organize by seasons and that certain animals are in that season, like its their prime. Its a really beautiful poetry book that has been translated, so that we may enjoy it. ( )

"In the Eyes of the Cat" is a collection of Japanese poems. The book is separated in 4 chapters: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Each page contains of one poem and an illustration. The poems are all about animals and the pictures are suitable to them. A nice collection with lovely illustrations. ( )

This is a beautiful book. The poems are arranged according to season, a very Japanese conceit. Because it is pretty much impossible to translate Japanese poetry and maintain its strict formality, and because there is no explanatory material, one can't tell, with many of these poems, whether they are haiku, waka or other forms. Though from their short length, and the frequent seasonal references, I'd guess haiku.

Each poem refers to a specific animal, which is illustrated by Hitz Demi, aptly and with stunning colors.
